About Us
Strange Fruit Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to creating opportunities of value to BIPOC musicians, artists, and entertainment professionals. We also provide internships and educational opportunities to the ARTS community.
What We Do
-
support/manage/staff events with the intention of placing a large percentage of BIPOC performers and entertainment professionals to execute productions
-
raise money to pay artists and professionals a comparable wage to their counterparts in the industry
-
create opportunity for grass-roots and local artists
- lobby for fair representation of urban art forms
Funds are used to hire/support/educate artists, musicians, and entertainment industry workers. Some of our programming includes booking artists for local and national gigs, hiring production teams to execute productions i.e. sound and lighting, producers, writers, etc. as well as throwing our annual Strange Fruit Event in April. We look forward to funding events, festivals, galas, and other productions and getting the community involved.
Why is our organization important?
Arts are an important tool in adding value to the community. We provide the opportunity for grass-roots artists to express themselves in a professional manner at a meaningful wage. This in turn creates a safer community, generates valuable relationships, and increases economic value within the community.
